1610 Antwerp-Brussels 1690
David Teniers the Younger, was one of the most important ‘genre’ painters from the 17th century. He was a pupil of his father and became member of the Guild of
Saint Luke in Antwerp, in 1632/33. In 1637, he married Anna, the daughter of Jan Brueghel the Elder. Because of this marriage, he was familiar to the Brueghel family and Peter Paul Rubens, and became dean of the Guild in 1645/46.
These years were the height of his fame, and he became Court painter for the Arch Duke Leopold Wilhelm in Brussels in 1650.
